CDP NORTH AMERICA

Overview

FordMomentum! served as a cultural inclusion subconsultant to Erin McClarty, PLLC, supporting CDP North America in assessing and strengthening how Justice, Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Accessibility (JEDIA) are reflected across its programs, communications, and operations.

The project focused on helping CDP integrate equity more deeply into its internal practices and externally facing climate and environmental justice work—building long-term capacity rather than one-time solutions.

  • Capacity Building, Not Compliance
FM! worked alongside CDP staff to build internal skills, shared language, and practical tools so equity work could continue beyond the engagement.

    Co-Learning & Trust
The process emphasized collaboration, reflection, and real-time learning—creating space for honest dialogue rather than imposing fixed policies.

    Equity in Practice
Rather than treating DEI as a checklist, the work focused on how equity shows up in daily decision-making, programs, and partnerships.

    Race as a Starting Point
While the framework addressed multiple identities, race was used as a primary lens to better understand how inequity operates across systems and intersections.

    • A DEI-informed review of CDP programs, initiatives, and communications

    • Staff trainings and workshops to apply equity principles to daily work (FM!)

    • Guidance for board governance, recruitment, and leadership alignment

    • An Engagement and Advocacy Framework to support external influence (FM!)

    • Recommendations for resourcing and sustaining DEI efforts internally (FM!)

    • Strengthened staff capacity to design and deliver equity-centered programs

    • Improved alignment between CDP’s values and its public-facing work

    • A clear roadmap for sustaining DEI efforts beyond the consulting period

    • Expanded ability to engage communities most impacted by climate and environmental harm
