Allow Me To Introduce Myself
I’m Maya Itunu Ford—a communications strategist, cultural engagement expert, and lifelong advocate for community-led development.
For more than 20 years, I’ve worked at the intersection of communication, economics, equity, and the built environment, helping institutions and communities navigate complex change. My work is grounded in a simple belief: when people understand the forces shaping their communities—and have a meaningful voice in the process—they make powerful decisions that expand what’s possible.
We are living through a profound technological and social shift.
The Fourth Industrial Revolution has transformed how information moves, how power is distributed, and how trust is built. Public agencies, governments, and organizations are now required to meet new equity, engagement, and data-driven mandates—often without the cultural literacy, communication frameworks, or facilitation systems needed to do so effectively.
This is where my work comes in.
I lead multidisciplinary teams that design communication systems, shared language frameworks, and engagement processes that make complex issues understandable and actionable.
Communities already know what they need and want.
Our job is to help them say it in ways that can shape policy, planning, and investment.
We help residents identify the language, values, and assets that define their identity — and help governments and organizations understand and respond to those insights. This is how we create infrastructure that is trusted, equitable, and built for long-term success.

I am a lifetime learner and fulfill my curiosity as a life mandate. For over nearly three decades I’ve spent my time in deep learning and practice investigating and studying systems, communications, and culture with people who are serious about solutions for communities.
MIT – Economics & Global Poverty: I wanted to understand economics and how we can balance resource and asset management in the 21st Century.
Harvard University – International Real Estate & Development Management (AMDP): I wanted to understand how decisions are made and implemented in built infrastructure. From transportation to homes to recreational spaces, real estate and development controls how and where we manage our assets.
Lagos Business School – Global Entrepreneurship (OMP): By 2050 one in four people on the planet will be a native of the African continent. I wanted to understand west African culture, values, and how they engaged in business.
25+ years in nonprofit & public-sector communications: I am a servant leader, and love and value the way people adapt to survive, thrive and innovate. My service to communities through public service organizations teaches me that nature always finds a way, and that my cultural skills are always necessary.
International cultural engagement and development experience: I learn through active doing and practice with others. The nuances of how communities use and express their language and values is important to how they use space.

We bring a unique blend of economic analysis, narrative framing, and culturally fluent engagement to every project.
Each year since 2016, Maya Ford, our founder spends six weeks or more in various nations conducting cultural investigations into language, values, esteem, economics, and governance.
These immersive experiences deepen understanding of how communities communicate, what they honor, how they measure worth, how markets function, and how decisions are made. Moving beyond surface observations, we’ve learned to listen for nuance, interpret local frameworks, and adapt respectfully to different norms.
This work has made Maya a more well-rounded person and practitioner, but it also sharpens our cultural humility, expands our perspective on power and value, and strengthens our ability to build trust across differences. We are prepared to engage thoughtfully and effectively with people from any background, bringing curiosity, respect, and practical insight to every conversation.
