  • The Houston Parks Board celebrated 10 years of connecting Houstonians for a more equitable future. This organization is serious about their mission and asked Maya to add her perspective. (Fall 2018))

  • Maya is the Chair of the City of Houston’s Bicycle Advisory Committee (BAC). She has been appointed by Mayor Sylvester Turner to make sure that 1200 square miles of safe bicycle infrastructure is designed, developed, and maintained in a collaborative effort between all constituents. This committee acts as a communications work space for residents, private and non-profit organizations, government agencies, and the City of Houston.


Maya is a subject matter expert in public health communications. She led an integrated campaign for HIV prevention that prioritized cultural inclusion as a method to influence health ownership. (Fall 2015)


Maya designs communications campaigns with intentional detail to local culture, language, and environment. Communities of color are lively and respond to communications that illuminate their natural flow.

  • Hire Houston Youth is a City of Houston initiative that hires young people ages 16 - 26 each summer at a fair wage. This campaign sought to attract and convert students into employees.

  • The Midtown Redevelopment Authority is a “township” within the City of Houston. This roadmap guides residents on who to call for services according to municipal responsibility.

  • The OST/South Union Health Improvement Partnership is a coalition of 3 major community organizations in Houston. Their goal is to improve the holistic well being of their neighborhood by inspiring reflective movement and innovation in an inclusive way.
